Plan the week

Helper weekly work schedule template

A helper doing household marketing

A written weekly schedule helps both employer and helper know what is expected each day. This template covers duties, rest days, meals, personal time and household notes. Fill it in together during the first week, then review it monthly. MOM requires at least one rest day per week (rest day rules). The schedule is a household planning tool, not a labour contract.

How to use this template

  1. Print this page (Ctrl+P or Cmd+P) or copy the table below.
  2. Fill in each day’s duties together with your helper.
  3. Mark the agreed rest day. At least one rest day per week is required; at least one per month cannot be compensated away.
  4. Review and adjust the schedule at the end of each month.

Example (illustrative only; adjust for your household): a family with a school-age child and two working parents might prioritise morning meal preparation and school pickup, afternoon laundry and house cleaning, and evening meal preparation. Rest and personal time should be built into every day, not reserved for the rest day only.

What to include

What this template is not

This is a planning tool, not a legally binding contract or performance tracker. It does not replace the employment agreement or MOM’s requirements. A realistic schedule includes adequate rest within working hours; a schedule that fills every waking hour is not sustainable and does not comply with MOM’s well-being expectations. See rest day and salary rules for the legal requirements.

A written schedule prevents arguments. Print it, fill it in together, and review it monthly.

Questions

Schedule template — questions

Should I put the schedule in writing?

Yes. A written schedule that both sides agree on prevents misunderstandings. Review it together at the end of each month and adjust as needed.

Can I change the schedule after it is agreed?

Yes, by agreement. Discuss changes in advance and update the written copy. Major changes to duties or hours should be fair and reasonable.
