Documents and travel planning

A helper renews her passport through her country’s embassy, following its current appointment and document instructions. This is separate from renewing her Singapore Work Permit. After the passport details change, use MOM’s FDW eService to update its records. Plan the appointment, agreed costs and travel together; do not assume a permit renewal also renews the passport.

A passport identifies its bearer for international travel. The Work Permit governs the helper’s employment in Singapore. Contract verification and home-country travel requirements are separate again; see the home-leave planning guide. Completing one task does not automatically complete the others.
MOM says passport validity is no longer tied to Work Permit duration: a permit can be renewed even if the passport has expired or has less than two years’ validity. This does not make an expired passport suitable for travel. Check the embassy, destination and carrier requirements before making travel arrangements.
Use the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore’s official service page to confirm the current passport appointment route and the instructions for the applicant’s case. Check its current document list, payment instructions, attendance and collection arrangements before going. This guide does not certify an embassy fee, document checklist or processing time.
The Philippine Embassy in Singapore’s passport page explains its appointment process and requirements. Follow its linked official appointment system, passport.gov.ph, and select the appropriate overseas location. The embassy states that appointments are free. Check the requirements for the actual case; a routine renewal, a lost passport and a change of personal particulars are different applications.
Use the Singapore mission’s instructions. Do not assume walk-in arrangements advertised for passport offices in the Philippines apply in Singapore. An appointment confirmation is not a promise that the new passport will be ready for a particular flight.
MOM’s passport-renewal cost guidance says the employer and helper should mutually agree who pays, preferably at the start of employment and in the contract. Confirm the actual embassy charge before agreeing arrangements; this page does not quote a fee or require the helper to pay.
MOM says employers should not keep the helper’s passport or force her to hand it over. Provide secure storage that she can access without restriction. Plan enough time for her appointment and collection based on the embassy’s actual instructions.
Once the passport details have changed, follow MOM’s official notification instructions. It directs employers to use FDW eService to update personal particulars, including passport number or expiry date. Check the submitted details and retain the transaction outcome securely. Updating MOM is separate from renewing the Work Permit.
